How to Calculate Square Footage

Finding the square footage of an area is generally very simple. All you have to do is measure the length and width of the room. Be sure all your measurements are in feet. Once you know the measurements, you simply multiply the length by width. Then you can multiply the square footage by the price per square foot from the map above.

 A Simple Example:

Let’s  say you live in Atlanta, Georgia. You stay in a one bedroom apartment. The square footage breaks down as follows.

  • Bedroom: 13′ x 12′ = 156 sq. ft.
  • Kitchen: 11′ x 16′ = 176 sq. ft.
  • Living Room: 12′ x 16′ = 192 sq. ft.
  • Bathroom: 5′ x 10′ = 50 sq. ft.
  • Hallway: 5′ x 12′ = 60 sq. ft.

 Total sq. ft. is 156 + 176 + 192 + 50 + 60 = 634 sq. ft.

Now multiply the total square footage by the price per square foot. So, 634 sq. ft. x $1.50= $951.00
